The Scottish Borders As it's name suggests this Region is an area of Scotland which Borders England meeting the northern English counties of Cumbria and Northumberland. Further North the region is bordered by West Lothian, East Lothian and Midlothian, The City of Edinburgh, South Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway. Characterised by rolling hills to the west and flatter ‘Merse’ land to the east, the Borders Region is dominated by the famous River Tweed which flows through the region to Berwick upon Tweed in Northumberland.

The major towns in the region are Selkirk, Jedburgh, Hawick,  Kelso Galashiels, and Melrose. Golf is a very popular sport in the area as are a variety of country pursuits including horse riding, shooting and fishing. As with many Scottish regions, golf dominates the annual sporting and leisure calendar. The main arterial routes accessing the Borders Region are the A1, A7 and A68 which run from the North to the South linking Edinburgh with London, Newcastle and Carlisle. The A72 traverses the region from east to west. The nearest airport is in Edinburgh. Whichever route you choose golfing in the borders is worth the journey.
